Alpaca Tooth Removal! | Trekking with ALL my Llamas & Honey returns to the vets

Welcome back Troops for Episode 6!!! This week you can follow Terry and Ruby taking ALL of the Llama boys out for the very first Llama trek of the season- it’s a Llama Parade!! Also in this episode; Terry and Nicole take Honey the alpaca back to the vets (hopefully for the last time!) to get her tooth removed – this isn’t a decision that we take lightly as teeth are so important to ruminants, but because her drooling wasn’t getting any better and with lots of advice from the vets, we decided that it was the right thing to do. Let us know how you think she did – she’s been super brave and we are really proud of her!

So yeah, please follow us on today’s episode.

Good afternoon guys, little bit of an update with Honey, just wanted to say thank you to everybody out there asking about Honey, she’s doing okay, she’s put on a little bit of weight but the tooth is still giving her jip, it is a little bit loose so we’re going to be taking her back to the vets to see Matt, and to see if we should take it out or leave it in, but this drooling guys is not great, i want to get it sorted uhm so yeah, me and Nicole are going to get her to the vets.

Okay so we’ve arrived at Milcroft, the big reveal, milcroft vets – come on Honey •whistles* there we go.

So what we’re going to do is we’re going to flush that out with water, he’s going to have a look at the top teeth and the bottom theeth, he said somethings going on with the bottom which might be a little bit different, he’s gonna check out if theres a smell there to see if he can identify any sort of infection, so that’s what we’re gonna do and hopefully it’s gonna go super simple, if it’s loose he’ll pull it out but if not he’s gonna assess it.

Oh theres loads of food impacting behind it.

Yeah they can do that sometimes when if its pain dont they, so they pack it in

Yeah, right super wobbly, what i would say is that when they’re wobbly there often like not wobbly if that makes sense.

uhm oh man that’s going to be quite difficult slightly, stop that stop that okay nonono

that’s super wobbly it’s absolutely diabolical smell coming out of there

yeah

right lets put some nerve blocks in here, yeah she’s packed it with absolutely bucket loads of food, it’s horrendously yellow, that must be some ahhh that’ll be a big abcess,

uhm well thats enamel look you can see by the striations on it, i can’t break that it’s

not a stick that’s tooth root

so that’s come out of her gum? what the bottom of her tooth?

yeah right here, to be honest with you i’m suprised she’s not got an abcess that’s come out of there

well if she hasn’t got an abcess that’s great

just keep it – we’ve hit the root there because that’s bleeding nicely, okay one more go, this will be a bit tricky well done Honey, oh well done lass See these ulcers here though?

yeah

sore bits so you’ll see this on the that’s thick as hell

so that was from that root that was sticking through?

yeah yeah yeah, let’s just check her other side, lack of ulcers, completely completely normal tongue, ulcered and sore and that’s bleeding there poor bugger, right that’s good uhm now then we’ll just make sure she’s not got anything else going on, i think that’s fine Terry

Yeah, wicked, it looks good

It’s it’s it’s not that bad actually, i think we leave that, i don’t want to blunten these teeth too much because she needs them to break stuff down, right so should we leave it there and then your mission is to see

Yeah Antibiotics, we’ll get that down

And plenty of metacam aswell

yeah

So guys Honey’s back and hopefully that is it, tooth out, little bit of an infection, going to give her some pain relief, and some anti-biotics but yeah, hopefully now she puts on all the weight and we never have to go back to the vets with her.

So guys, thank you for joining us, another episode done, catch us on the next one uh and please follow, like and subscribe, uhm if you want to know anything please leave some comments and we’ll try and answer you the best we can, we’ll see you next time.

*Bloopers*

okay so we have arrived at milcroft, uh you
got a little bit of dirt on the lens there,

its blown off don’t worry, ive got it Tom.

So that’s pretty much it hopefully, we’ll
show you her tooth, nicole tooth…..

oh *bleep* cut

im not just carrying it round in my pocket!

im only kidding right im just gonna get some
antibiotics for and ill put some water out

and

ahh its just me hand

telemarketing why do you want to buy this
tooth?

well apart from the fact that’ its been in
a very beautiful alpaca its kind of really

special so with Honey she’s been looking after
this tooth for quite a long time, she’s been

packing the food around it, and alsowho dosent
want a discouloured tooth?

that smells a bit weird, i think its a fine
piece of equipment that you could have anywhere

at all so just buy it.

Do you have a mic on?

no

completely pointless!

*laughing*

that’s you told

i did’nt expect you to do anything when i
said telemarketing sell me that tooth

*laughing*
