Giving Back…. thanks to YOU!!

This is what being a Social Enterprise is all about… and it’s thanks to all of you in The Woolly Army!

As part of Our Mission we aim to make our alpaca and llama experiences accessible to all and provide everyone with an inspiring, memorable experience and an opportunity to connect with nature in a way that contributes to their wellbeing.  Thanks to all of you lovely, lovely people that have come on a walk or trek with us and then donated an experience to others, we have a pot of funds that we use to offer free activities to third sector organisations and charities.

We did just this recently for the amazing team from Y.A.R.S (Young Adult Respite Service), they brought a group of vulnerable young adults to Meet and Greet our Alpaca Mums and Babies and it was awesome!

Travelling up from Merseyside, they arrived at our site at The Lakes Distillery on a gorgeous sunny Sunday Morning. After our Covid Safety briefing and guidelines on how to interact and feed the alpacas we introduced them to our girls and babies. There was a lot of excitement, some nerves and a few squeals of delight (from the visitors, our girls are consummate professionals!) and then the feeding started followed very quickly by lots of questions! Our alpaca girls are really polite and very patient and after the initial excitement it got so relaxed that they started to lie in the sun, allowing the young people to sit with them and just enjoy the moment. The less confident members of the group all became more involved and we even discovered some Alpaca Whisperer’s among them.

The session lasted about an hour and we said goodbye to a very happy and relaxed group of young adults who can all now say they have made some alpaca friends :)  So thank you again to all of you, for helping to make this sort of activity possible for everyone, including us!

Visiting the alpacaly ever after and spending time with alpacas in their natural environment was such a special experience. Thank you Emma.

The whole experience has been magical for our disabled adults, they loved spending time with these beautiful animals and being able to get close up for photos and feeding. It’s a day they won’t forget in a hurry. We will certainly be back. Thank you to all involved in making this happen.
