What to Expect
- This site can get very muddy in parts so we strongly advise you wear wellies.
- Activity takes place at Basecamp North Lakes, Cocklakes House, Troutbeck, Penrith, CA11 0SG.
- Prices start at £20 for visitors 12 yrs & over, £12 for children 4 – 11 yrs, and under 4s are free.
- All children under 18 must be accompanied by a paying parent or guardian.
- All participants must be paid for as part of the booking.
- Activity roughly 40 minutes.
- Involves hand feeding the girls, spending time getting to know the herd, having all your alpaca questions answered by our guides and taking lots of pictures!
- Please note that during the winter months (November – March) the conditions at Basecamp may mean that the activity will need to take place inside one of the barns.
Accessibility | Facilities
- Suitable for all ages.
- The land at Basecamp can get very boggy so we don’t recommend this site for anyone with mobility issues or wheel chair users unfortunately – please see Meet The Alpacas at The Lingholm Estate near Keswick.
- Site facilities include cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, gift shop, farmshop, wheel chair accessible free car parking in close proximity to facilities, disabled access toilet.

Come and join us at our very newest site! We are so excited to introduce you to the stunning views at Basecamp :) We have our very own lake here with water birds and wildlife to enjoy, there is also a wonderful farmshop stocking local produce and a cafe filled with pies, cakes and all manner of delights made right on the premises! …And did we mention we have our own lake ;)
As a Non-Profit Social Enterprise all the income from our activities goes back into supporting the work we do re-homing and rescuing alpacas and llamas, and providing free and subsidised activities for third sector organisations! For more information about the work we do have a look here
